On June 1 1950 Senator Margaret Chase Smith had speech on the Senate floor in which she refused to name the Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, but she condemned the anti-Communist witch hunt that was led by him. She defended every American`s right to criticize, to protest and the right of independent taught.
