What is anthropomorphic imagery? In your opinion, what are two possible purposes for this type of art?

Anthropomorphic imagery is taking animals or objects and giving them human shapes and/or qualities. Opinions will vary.

Basically this is where human-like characteristics are given to non-human things, like making a horse look humanlike or something. The point of this type of art is either .. -

religious - for example, in hindu art animals can be given human-like features to show they have deistic qualities, like the god Ganesha

- narrative - in some paintings, objects are made humanlike to show that they represent things like sin, etc.
