Hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces are types of INTERMOLECULAR ATTRACTIONS.

Two types of forces exist in molecules of substances, these are intramolecular forces and inter molecular attractions. Intramolecular forces are those forces that exist within molecules and hold the atoms of the molecule together. In contrast, inter molecular forces refer to those forces that exist between molecules. These forces can be attractive or repulsive in nature depending on the type of neighbor molecules they are interacting with. Examples of inter molecular forces of attraction are hydrogen bond and Vander Waals forces.
