Area of shaded section is 8yd - 3.14yd
this gives an area of 4.86yd

assuming that the height of the rectangle is 2 (1/2 of 4)

radius=4/2=2

shaded=rectangle-semicircle
shaded=2*4-(1/2)pi2²
shaded=8-2pi
aprox
shaded=1.72

answer is 1.72yd²
