a horse race has 11 entries and one person owns 3 of those horses. Assuming that there are no ties, what is the probability that those three horses finish first, second, and third

The probability that one of the three horses finishes first is 3/11. If one of the three horses has finished first, then the probability that one of the remaining two horses finishes second is 2/10. If two of the three horses have finished first and second, then the probability of the remaining horse from the three finishing third is 1/9. Therefore the required probability is given by:
