Answer:

(0, 3 )

Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

16x - 2y = - 6 → (1)

8x - 8y = - 24 → (2)

Multiplying (2) by - 2 and adding to (1) will eliminate the x- term

- 16x + 16y = 48 → (3)

Add (1) and (3) term by term to eliminate x, that is

0 + 14y = 42

14y = 42 ( divide both sides by 14 )

y = 3

Substitute y = 3 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

Substituting into (1)

16x - 2(3) = - 6

16x - 6 = - 6 ( add 6 to both sides )

16x = 0 , thus

x = 0

solution is (0, 3 )
