The correct answer is Milankovitch cycle.

The episodic nature of the earth's glacial cycle and interglacial cycle within the present ice age is only caused due to the cyclic changes in earth's movement around the sun. This movement of earth is called Milankovitch cycle. This cycle basically affects the season and location of solar energy around the earth. This movement of earth on its orbit around the sun is responsible for the ice ages.
