The Jayden family eats at a restaurant that is having a 15% discount promotion. Their meal costs $78.68, and and they leave a 20% tip. If the tip applies to the cost of the meal before the discount, what is the total cost of the meal? Round your intermediate calculations and answer to the nearest cent.

Assuming the 78.68 is after the 15% discount, the cost of the meal before the discount is 92.56 (since 78.68 = 0.85c where c is the cost of the meal before discount). The tip is 20% of 92.56 which is 18.51. So, the full cost of the meal is 78.68 + 18.51 = 97.19.

78.68 + 0.20(78.68) = 78.68 + 15.74 = 94.42 (meal + tip)
94.42 - 0.15(94.42) = 94.42 - 14.16 = 80.26 <=== after discount
