Our starting equation looks like this:

(6x-1)/(5) = (3)/(1)

First we multiply each side by 5 to get rid of fractions. we get:
6x - 1 = 3*5

now we switch -1 to oposite side of equal sign. It will also change its sign to +1
6x = 15 + 1
6x = 16

now we divide both sides with 6 and we get:
x = 16/6 = 8/3

answer is:
x = 8/3
