47 is a prime number between 44 and 50 because it is the only number between 44 and 50 that can only be divided by itself and one.

Answer is 47.
- a prime number only has factors of one and itself
- other numbers were composite
- 45 can be divided by 5
- 46 can be divided by 2
- 48 can be divided by 2
- 49 is 7^2
