7 (5x-4)-1 = 14-8x
35x-28-1 =14+8x
35x+8x = 14+28+1
43x=43
And then divide both sides by 43 so you'll get x=1 I guess this is how you do it I'm not sure at all

7(5x - 4) - 1 = 14 - 8x......distribute through the parenthesis
35x - 28 - 1 = 14 - 8x
35x - 29 = 14 - 8x.....add 8x to both sides
35x + 8x - 29 = 14.....add 29 to both sides
35x + 8x = 14 + 29...combine like terms
43x = 43....divide both sides by 43
x = 43/43
x = 1 <===
