Bonita said that the product of 5/6 × 1 2/3 is 7/3. How can you tell that her answer is wrong?

Hey there! ;) To solve this question we should make the mixed number ( 1 2/3) into a improper fraction so that would be 5/3. So when we multiply the fractions together we do 5/6*5/3= 25/18= 1 7/28. I think what Bonita did was she did 5/6+2/3=7/3 she must have forgotten the 1 in the mixed number and she just used the three. That's what I think.

Hope I helped!

Because to multiply fractions, you must multiply across. This means that, even though 1 2/3 is a mixed fraction, when improper it would still be over 3, so the denominator for the answer must be 6 × 3 which is 18, and her answer is not over 18. Hope this helps!
