Patio bricks come in a square size, 5 inches on a side. To make a patio 5 ft. by 10 ft. wide, how many bricks do you need?

5\cdot10=50 \text{ ft}^2=7200\text{ in}^2 <-- the surface area of a patio

5^2=25 \text{ in}^2 <-- the surface area of a brick


7200/25=288

You need 288 bricks.
