Antwone earns money at a steady rate mowing lawns. The points (1,25) and (5,125) appear on a graph of the amount earned versus number of lawns mowed. What are the coordinates of the point on the graph with an x value of 3?

(3,75) because:
change of y 125-25 100
--------------- ---> -------- ---> ------ ----> 25=k
change of x 5-1 4

y=kx --> y=25x; if x=3, 25x3= 75=y
so the coordinates are (3,75)

Answer:

(3;75)

Explanation:

First, we find the ratio between the points:

m=(125-25)/(5-1)=(100)/(4)=25

This ration means that y increase 25 units per each unit of x. So, based on this ratio we can make the sequence until x = 3.

We can show this in the table below:

x y

1 25

2 50

3 75

4 100

5 125

As you can see, in the table, the coordinate for x = 3 is y = 75, and the points is (3;75)
