1 mile = 5280 ft.....so 40 miles = (5280 * 40) = 211200 ft
60 seconds per minute, and 60 minutes per hr....so 1 hr = (60 x 60) = 3600 seconds.

211,200 / 3600 = 58.67 ft per second

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that when diving, a hummingbird can reach a speed of 40 miles per hour.

i.e. speed of humming bird = 40 miles per hour

We have
1 mile = 5280 feet\\40 miles = 5280(40) = 211200 feet

In one hour = 211200 feet

We have
1 hour = 3600 seconds

Hence speed in ft/sec =
(211200)/(3600) =58.67 ft/sec
