A bowl of apples contains 6 red delicious, 7 granny smith, and 3 macintosh. Find the probability of choosing a macintosh and then a granny smith, if the apples get put back in the bowl after they're chosen.

The total number of apples in the bowl is:


6+7+3=16

This way, the probability of choosing a Macintosh is:


(3)/(16)

And the probability of choosing a Granny Smith is:


(7)/(16)

To get the probability of the two events hapening right after each other (choosing a Macintosh and then a Granny Smith), we multiply the probability of both events happening separately:


(3)/(16)\cdot(7)/(16)=(21)/(256)=0.082

Meaning there is a 8.2% chance of choosing a Macintosh and then a Granny Smith
