I thinks you mean to solve for "k". To do this you must isolate the k on one side of the equation. Use the distribution method:

2k-10 = 6
Add 10 to both sides of equation
2k = 16
Divide both sides by 2
k = 8

To check the answer, substitute it in to the original equation:
2(8)-10 = 6
16-10 = 6
6 = 6

So the answer is correct. c:

Add the 10 on both sides so you have 2k=16 then divide both by 2 so k=8
