3r + 8 = 2r + 12 subtract 2r from both sides and subtract 8 from both sides

r=4 substitute 4 in for r in each and add all 4 sides

14 + 14 + 20 + 20=

68 feet are needed

In a paralleogram oppoaite sides are equal.

AD≅ BC

Or,3r+8=2r+12

Subtracting 2r both sides

3r-2r+8=12

r+8=12

Subtracting 8 both sides r=4.

The sides AB=CD= 4r-2=4(4)-2=16-2=14

Sides AD=BC=3r+8=3(4)+8 =12+8=20.

Perimeter is sum of all the sides.

Perimeter of parallelogram ABCD= AB+BC+CD+DA=14+20+14+20=68

68 feet of fencing are needed to enclose the lot .
