Hi there! ~

So to start off, we are trying to find the value of x. This is a lot different then just "replacing x with the given value" as we have previously done. So lets get started ~

• Our first step is going to be to distribute our problem.

We have; (Putting these in parenthesis)

3(x+6) = 2(4x + 14)
↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
(3)(x) + (3)(6) = (2))4x) + (2)(14)
↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
3x + 18 = 8x + 26

• Now we need to subtract "18" by both sides of the given equation.

-5x + 18 - 18 = 28 - 18

28-18 = 10

-5x = 10

↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓

• Now we need to divide both of our sides by -5, to get our final and foremost answer.

(-5x)/(-5) = (10)/(-5)

And with that we get our final answer; x = -2

Hi there

3(x + 6) = 2(4x + 14)
3x + 18 = 8x + 28
3x - 8x = 28 - 18
-5x = 10
x= 10/-5
x = -2

Here it is :)
