Start by canceling out your X values. Since 4x is the smaller number, then you subtract it on both sides. 5x-4x=x, your new equation is x + 7=10. Now subtract 7 on both sides. Answer is x=3

You subtract 4x on both sides of the equal sign, then you will get x+7=10. Then you will subtract 7 on both sides of the equal sign and get this, x=3 as your answer.
