Explanation:

A number n is a zero of a function if f(n)=0. In this case, if I operate 1/2 with its additive inverse we obtain zero. So, as 1/2-1/2=0 the easiest function with 1/2 as a zero will be f(x)= x-1/2. Indeed, f(1/2)=1/2-1/2=0.
