An allusion is a "figure of speech whereby the author refers to a subject matter such as a place, event, or literary work by way of a passing reference. It is up to the reader to make a connection to the subject being mentioned" Therefore comparing a real life situation to a situation in a story or book.

The answer should be the D. ALLUSION. Allusion can be defined as an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference.
