You would multiply the denominator by the whole number and then add the numerator.
Example: 1 1/2=?
Multiply the 2×1=2
Then add the top number.
so the answer is 3/2
Hope this helps

for example 2 3/4 you multiply the whole number (2) into the denominator (4) which you get 8 then add the numerator (3) with 8 and you will get 11/4 eleven over four
hope this helps :)
