Ryan throws an ordinary 6-sided red dice, followed by an ordinary 6-sided blue dice. Work out the probability that both dice land on the number 6.

Explanation:

The dice color doesn't matter. All that matters is the number of times 6 is likely to come up. For every 6 sides of a dice, there is 1 side with "6" on it. This makes your probability of rolling a 6, 1:6 or 1/6. Since we are trying to find out how likely it is for you to roll 2 sixes in a row, multiply both of the probabilities. Since you are likely to roll one 6 every six rolls, multiply

1/6 x 1/6 to get 1/36:


(1)/(6) *(1)/(6) = (1)/(36).

So for every 36 times you roll the dice, you can expect to roll 2 sixes.
