To find:

2x + y = 4 ..........(1)

x - y = 11 ...........(2)

Step by step solution:

We will use the substitution method to solve this problem:

We will take the value of y from second equation:

y = x - 11

We will put the above value in this equation:

2x + y = 4

2x + x - 11 = 4

3x = 15

x = 5

Putting this value in equation 2:

x - y = 11

y = x - 11

y = 5 - 11

y = -6

From here we can say that the value of x and y is 5 and -6 respectively.
