Distributive property explains that multiplying the sum of 2 or more addends by a number will also give you the same value when you multiply the individual values and add them. Example

2(3+5)

We have addition of 2 numbers(3 and 5) in parenthesis. The distributive property is telling us that when we use the number outside the bracket to multiply the one inside and add them, we will get the same answer when we add the numbers in the parenthseis first and then multiply with the outside value. Therefore,

\begin{gathered} 2(3+5)=2*3+2*5=6+10=16 \\ \text{this is same as this: } \\ 2(3+5)=2*(8)=16 \end{gathered}
