A spaceship is traveling to the moon. Both the moon and the earth pull on the spaceship during the entire trip. At a point much further than halfway there is a point where the earth and moon have an equal pull on the spaceship.

Why do both the moon and the earth pull on the spaceship the entire time? Why must you be closer to the moon before the pull of the earth and moon are equal?

The reason that the ship gets pulled on the whole time is because Both planets well Planet and moon have a gravitaional pull, without them they would collide with each other. Its common sense that if you closer to the moon the moon has  a greater affect on your with its gravity, thats why you must be closer to the moon in order for the moon to pull you closer in! :) Hope this helps!
