1 2/5 pounds ...................$3.36
2 3/4 pounds.....................?

2 3/4 * 3.36 / (1 2/5)
=11/4 * 3.36 / (7/5)
= 9.24 / (7/5)
= 9.24 / 1.4
= 6.6

answer: 2 3/4 pounds of lunch meat cost $6.60

Answer:

$6.6

Explanation:

This is what we know:

1(2)/(5) pounds = $3.36

2(3)/(4) pounds = $x

You can say that they are proportional because there is a unit price for each pound.

(1(2)/(5)pounds)/(3.36)=(2(3)/(4)pounds)/(x)

There are a couple of ways to do this but I'll show you this one:

Ratio and proportion:

((7)/(5)pounds)/(3.36dollars)=((11)/(4)pounds)/(xdollars)

((7)/(5))(x)=((11)/(4))(3.36)

(7x)/(5)=(36.96)/(4)

7x=((36.96)/(4))(5)

7x=((184.8)/(4)

7x=46.2

x=(46.2)/(7)

x=$6.6
