Suppose the ratio of the number of primary coils to secondary coils in a transformer is 1500, i.e., Ns/Np = 1500. If the input voltage to the primary coil is 100 kV, what is the voltage in the secondary coil?

Given,

The ratio of the number of turns in secondary coils to that in primary coils is N_s/N_p=1500

the input voltage to the primary coil, V_p=100 kV

The transformer ratio is given by,

(N_s)/(N_p)=(V_s)/(V_p)

Where V_s is the voltage in the secondary coil.

On substituting the known values,

\begin{gathered} 1500=(V_s)/(100*10^3) \\ \Rightarrow V_s=1500*100*10^3 \\ =150*10^6\text{ V} \\ =150\text{ MV} \end{gathered}

Thus the voltage in the secondary coil is 150 MV
