FDC, the total angle, is 61º.
The angles composing FDC, which are FDE and CDE, can be added together to equal FDC.
So, this turns into an algebra problem.
FDE + CDE = FDC
Plug in the given values for all 3 angles.
(2x+5) + (10x-4) = 61.
combine
12x+1 = 61
-1 -1
12x = 60
/12 /12
x=5
Now that we have x, plug into the values of FDE and CDE to get numbers.
2(5)+5 = 15º
10(5)-4 = 46º
We can check our answers by adding them; they should equal 61.
15 + 46 =?
61
So, we got the right answers.
FDE measures 15º, and CDE measures 46º.
I'm not sure if there was a misprint or I can't see the correct answer with the picture taken, but I'd say that none are right.
