first you simplify 1/2 ((1/4xy)+9)-1/2=0 and then simplify 1/4 9= 1/9=9Ă—4/4 and finally y + 9 x 4/4 = y + 36/4 ( y + 36) -1/2 =0 now y+34=0. y=-34

Well first you would subtract 9 from both sides to isolate your variable
so it would look like
1/4y =-81/2
now you divide 1/4 from both sides
so you're left with
y = -34
