All chemical processes are accompanied by energy changes. When a reaction proceeds, it either releases energy to, or absorbs energy from, its surroundings. In thermodynamics, these two types of reactions are classified as exothermic or endothermic, respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Chemical reactions are the reactions that result in formation of a new compound due to change in chemical composition of the reactants.

Chemical reactions can be either endothermic or exothermic in nature.

Endothermic reactions are the reactions in which reactants absorb energy. Whereas in exothermic reactions energy is released.

Thus, we can conclude that endothermic chemical reaction absorbs energy.
