Explanation:

x + 2y = 6 \: \: equ1 \\ x + y = 10 \: \: equ2

From equ2,

x = 10 - y

Substituting the value of x in equ1,

(10 - y) + 2y = 6

Collect like terms

y=6-10

y = - 4

Substituting the value if y in equ2,

x+y=10

x+(-4)=10

x-4=10

x=10+4

x=14

Therefore, 2x+2y

2(14) + 2(-4)

28 - 8

=20
