How is solving 1/8 ÷ 5 different from solving 1/8 ×5

One you divide so take the reciprocal , so 1/8 x 1/5 . 1/8 x 5 is just simple multiplication. Hope that helps you.

doing 1/8÷5 would get you a smaller number while 1/8×5 would get you a rater larger number
