Y varies directly with x, and y = 9 when x = 2. What is the value of y when x = 3?

direct variation equation is y = kx where k is the constant of variation.
First use the x and y you are given to find the k.
9 = k * 2
9/2 = k
Then use the k and new x to find the y.
y = (9/2)(3)
y = 27/2
