In “The Rockpile” by James Baldwin, how does the way the children play on the rockpile contribute to the rockpile’s symbolism?

Their violent play makes the rockpile a place of danger.
Their use of violence makes the rockpile a place of fear.
Their gang fights make the rockpile a place for insiders.

In "The Rockpile" by James Baldwin, the way the children play on the rockpile contribute to the rockpile´s symbolism since their use of violence makes the rockpile a place of fear. It alludes to the dangers of the outside world.

"The Rockpile" is a 1965 short story by James Baldwin, taken from the short story collection, Going to Meet the Man. The Rockpile settin is a small part of town where you can see the whole street from your balcony or fire escapes.

I can be wrong, but as far as I remember, this is the best option from given above: Their fighting makes the rockpile a place of intolerance.
