Natural selection is the process where only the individuals of a species that better handle the environmental adversities, will be able to survive, reproduce and pass their genetic traits to the next generations. Having this clear, we can say that the statements that better describe it are the first one, and the third one, since it reduces the frequency of unfavorable traits in a population, and also increases the overal fitness of the species.
