What is 2x-16=90 in Algebra1

x = 53.

90 + 16 = 106, then you divide by 2 to find x, and x equals 53.

step 1: add 16 to 90.

90 + 16= 106..

step 2: divide both side by 2.

106/2 = 53. 2x/2 would cancel out.

x= 53, and this is how you would solve to find x.

In order to get x, you would get rid of everything else around it. -16 is the last thing you did to form this equation, so you would add 16 to both sides, which would get you 2x = 106. Since you want x by itself, you would divide 2 on both sides, which would get you x = 53. And the answer would be x = 53.
