What is the simplified form of the quantity of x plus 8, all over 4 − the quantity of x plus 5, all over 4?

I think it would be 3/4 since 8-5 would be 3 and x minus x would be 0, so that leaves 3 on the top and when u subtract fractions you don't subtract the bottom number so it leaves you with 3/4

(x+8)/(4) -(x+5)/(4)

To simplify the expression , we check the denominator.

When the denominators are same then we subtract the numerators, we put denominator only once


(x+8-(x+5))/(4)

Multiply negative inside the parenthesis and combine like terms


(x+8-x-5)/(4)
