3p=12
p=4
2p=4
p=2
So no, they are not equivalent.

3p-4=8
+4 on both sides to get
3p=12
divide each side by 3 to get p=4
2p=4
divide off 2 on both sides to get
p=2
Is 2=4? If it is then it is equivelent, if it isnt then theyre not.
