A cline is a scale of language items that goes from one extreme to another. Basically they are written from lowest to highest such as :

- Small, Big, Huge, Gigantic
- Unlikely, Perhaps/maybe , Often , Always
- Freezing, Cold, Cool, Warm, Hot, Burning
- Blue, Low, Depressed, Miserable, Sorrowful
- Glad, Cheerful, Delighted, Elated, Ecstatic
