To solve this via substitution, just substitute -x+5 for y in your first equation. To do this, set both equations, except the ys, equal to each other, giving you
-x+5= (3)/(2) x. Now, add x to both sides to get
-x+5= (3)/(2) x=\ \textgreater \ 5= (5)/(2) x. Now, multiply both sides by 5/2 to get x=2 as your answer. If you need to solve for y, just plug in x to an equation to get -(2)+5=3.
