The interquartile range is 5, and 8 is the median.
The data sorted from least to greatest is:
4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13.
IQR = Q3 - Q1
To find both the Q3 and Q1, we have to look at
8 and 9.
8 + 9/2 = 8.5
The first quartile is the median of the data points left OF THE MEDIAN.
4,
5, 6
, 8.
Q1 = 5 + 6/2 = 11/2 = 5.5
IQR = Q3 - Q1
= 10.5 - 5.5
= 5
