8x+y=20

Use elimination to cancel y. Add both systems together:
2x + 8x - y + y = 10 + 20

Combine like terms:
10x = 30

Divide by 10:
x = 3

Plug x back in to solve for y:
2(3) - y = 10
6 - y = 10

Subtract 6:
-y = 4

Divide by -1:
y = -4


So your solution is x = 3 and y = -4 which is also written as (3, -4).
