Besides being harder to get by, it's also more expensive, which elevates the cost/price for the products.

Depending on the scarce resource, time is very important for manufacturers, and difficulty to get the resources can slow down production, costing even more money.

A manufacturer would benefit from it by reducing the costs of production, which means more margin for profit, as well as facilitating the production, by using materials that are easier to acquire.
