An adult blue whale can eat 4.0 x 10^7 krill in a day. At that rate, how many krill can an adult blue whale eat in 3.65 x 10^2 days?

4.0 x 10^7 = 40000000
3.65 x 10^2 = 365
40000000 x 365 = 14600000000 or 1.46 x 10^10
Hope this helps!!

Answer:

1.46* 10^(10) krill.

Explanation:

We have been given that an adult blue whale can eat
4.0* 10^7 krill in a day. We are asked to find the number of krill an adult whale can eat
3.65* 10^2 days.

\text{Krill eaten in given time}=3.65* 10^2\cdot 4.0* 10^7

Using exponent property
a^b\cdot a^c=a^(b+c), we will get:

\text{Krill eaten in given time}=3.65* 4.0* 10^(7+2)

\text{Krill eaten in given time}=14.6* 10^(9)

\text{Krill eaten in given time}=1.46* 10^(10)

Therefore, an adult whale can eat
1.46* 10^(10) krill in
3.65* 10^2 days.
