England strictly controlled shipping and trade with the colonies because the took over the colonies to benefit from trade. Hope this helps!!

England was the country that strictly controlled shipping and trade to the colonies to ensure that they were the only ones who benefitted from the colonies and their trade. The colonies traded products like tobacco, which was a called a cash crop.
