Aisle 2 of a furniture store stocks 4-legged chairs, 4-legged tables, and 3-legged stools. If there are t tables, c chairs, and s stools, which expressions show the total number of furniture legs in aisle 2?

4c + 4t + 3s = total number of legs

To do this, we just set up an equation (with any variable as the number of furniture legs, I will use y) which multiplies the number of legs on a certain object by the number of that object. The equation would end up as (number of legs)=(number of legs*object 1)+(number of legs*object 2)+(number of legs*object 3), which ends up as y=4c+4t+3s
