What impact did the Crusades have on European social structure, especially feudalism?

They basically validated the authority of the Church and its vassal states and the feudalistic government style with absolute control at the sovereign level. That's why the Templars got screwed so royally. The French king couldn't deal with being indebted to them, so he declared them heretics and kept his power in the name of God-business.
