2x 7 3 x

(2)/(3)x - 3.5 = (3)/(8)x

(2)/(3)x - (3)/(8)x = 3.5

(2)/(3)x - (3)/(8)x = (7)/(24)x

(7)/(24)x = 3.5

Multiply 3.5 by 24 and then divide by 7 and you get

x = 12
